Positive Change

Positive Change

Positive ChangePositive Change. An interesting concept, don’t you think? I once heard a man who was speaking at a seminar say, “only one percent of people will change their lifestyle, even if they know their current lifestyle will kill them”. Which group do you belong to? The ninety nine percent or the one percent? As for me? Like most people change for me comes hard at times and I have to have a strong incentive to actually make the change. Even when I know that it is a positive change.

As I think about the past several years of my life, I see a lot of things that are good. Some are actually astounding to me. The number of visitors to the website I honestly never thought I could make happen. The number of members of the G6PD Deficiency group is another surprise. But as with all things, there is a good and a bad side to the successes I have enjoyed.

Reaching People with G6PDD

The number of visitors to G6PDDeficiency.org for 2014 was just under 400,000 people. WOW! If you add the people who visit the Facebook groups and page, the total is somewhere around 500,000+. Now compare that to the estimated 700,000,000 people with G6PDD. This is less than 0.1 percent or 1 out of 1000 people. Not so good. We have to do better.

Our first challenge is that in order to reach more people, I have to either clone myself somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 times or reach more people at a time and I really don’t think the world is ready for 1000 Dale Bakers. Perish the thought! So, Melody and I are coming up with some ideas we hope will help. But in my experience with the people in the G6PD Deficiency Facebook group and the Newsletter, as well as the visitors and members of the website, you guys have a lot of good ideas. So I’m inviting you to share your ideas with me. I won’t be able to use them all, but you never know which idea will blossom into one that will make a huge difference. So, don’t be shy. I want to hear from you. Email me at suggestions@g6pddeficiency.org

Positive Change

One change is going into effect immediately. We have created a new membership option that we hope you will like. For one thing, it is very inexpensive. For only $ 5.95 USD you can have lifetime access to the 208 and growing recipes, home remedies, etc. on G6PDDeficiency.org. Plus, we are moving some premium content and functionality to the member’s area. The first is the food and drugs to avoid search options. The lists are still available without a membership. The idea is to move “convenience” things to the member’s area but not take away everyone’s ability to learn about G6PDD. Check it Out. It is our sincere hope that this will generate more revenue to help us grow and reach more people without putting unnecessary hardship on people. The bigger we get, the more expensive it gets to host the website and newsletter charges are climbing as well. One change we just had to make is to move the website to another host as we were outgrowing our previous host. We now have a managed virtual server, which means a company “rents” us a virtual host computer. We are big enough that we can no longer be hosted by the normal website hosting methods of having a lot of websites hosted on a single computer. Yes, it is a lot more expensive.

Another change that has already occurred has been wonderful and you will start seeing the benefits very soon. As more people are providing help to people on the G6PD Deficiency Facebook group I have had MUCH more time to make improvements on G6PDDeficiency.org. You will start seeing them more and more as time goes by. AND Melody and I have had a lot more time to do research. Some really exciting things are in the works. One of them could be the single most significant breakthrough for G6PDD that has happened in a LONG time and could dispel many of the myths that have plagued G6PDD. We’re hoping for field testing to start in late 2015. You won’t want to miss this one. I can’t wait to tell you about it.

We hope you will bear with us as we make the necessary changes and understand that our main goal is to help you to live a healthier life and avoid the health problems that you will surely encounter without knowing the truth about living with G6PDD. Positive changes will benefit all of us.

Happy New Year, and God Bless.
